Charles GOLDSMITH, born about 1820 in Prussia.
married: Charlotty, born about 1813 from Prussia also.
Their grandson Louis GOLDSMITH emigrated about 1870 at age 5.
Louis married Mary Elizabeth RAU in MD.
Her parents were John RAU from Hesse Cassel born about 1829 and Augusta ___ from Hanover born about 1833.
I am pretty sure my GOLDSMITHs and RAUs were Lutheran.

Henry (Henrich Frederick) WALKEMEYER was born on 4/6/1821 in Hanover, Germany. (I don't know if my the City or Country of Hanover.) He arrived in the United States approximately 1848 or 1847.
He married Clara Maria SCHURMAN and she was born in Buer on 2/8/1825. The reason why I think Henry arrived about 1848 is because Henry and Clara got their marriage license on 1/25/1848 and applied for his Naturalization and took oath on 10/9/1849.
I have Frederick WALKERMIER Naturalization record and on it is says:
"... Frederick Walkermier, a native of Hanover and at present residing in the State of Maryland ... that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to ever foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly all allegiance and fidenity to the King of Hanover."

We are doing some research on two families from Germany - RÜHRSCHNECK and GRAMLICH.
- My 5 great-grandfather, Johann Jacob RÜHRSCHNECK (from Watzendorf, near Nürnberg, Germany?) was a Hessian Soldier and came over to the USA during the American Revolution.
He was a musketier from the Ansbach Regiment, 1 Company under the direction of Generals.
He came to America with the Hessian troops, was captured at the Battle of Saratoga in October 1777, and held as a prisoner of war - most of the time in the Valley of Virginia. Etc.
I'm currently trying to find a date of birth and parents/siblings names from Church records in Watzendorf.
- Another 5 great-grandfather, George GRAMLICH, came from Wuerttemberg about 1766 (ship "Chance"?).
George GRAMLICH and his wife Maria Magdalena? had a son Daniel (born 03 May 1766 in Germany).
I found a George GRAMLICH in PA who had a wife by that name in the baptismal records of their two sons, Jacob born Dec. 10, 1776, and Johannes, born Nov. 22, 1774.
The names and ages of those two sons are the same as the ones George had when he was living in the state of Tennessee in USA.

I am looking for information on the following:
Charles and Wilhelminia SCHMIDT - They migrated to the US from Germany about 1865. They are listed in the 1870 census as SMITH.
In this census they have living with them three children. Frederick age 11 born in Germany, Agusta 5 born in Germany and Mary 1 born in Maryland. They also had a son Charles born in Germany not listed on this census who would have been about 15 at that time.
The 1880 census says that Charles was born in Waldeck and Wilhelminia was born in Bavaria.
Wilhelmina's death certificate says that her father was Christian and it looks like LANDAU.

Earliest info I have is 1850 Baltimore Maryland Census Valetine MULLER age 26 estimated birth year abt 1824; born in Darmstadt-Hesse.
Wife Mary 24, also born in Darmstadt-Hesse; son Jacob 10/12 and father in law John GLEBER/KLIVER/KLEIBER, 51 born in Germany.
I have data on the family in 1860 and 1870 Baltimore census where the name changes to MILLER. and they were born in Prussia 1880 Census indicates Mary was a widow with 7 children. 1900 census indicates Mary immigrated in 1846.
I have not been able to find if and when they got married or what ship they came over in.
Info from Trinity German Lutheran Church 1853-1877 indicates the follow baptisms. on 3 November 1867 ;Gertraud and Georg Wochim, parents Valentin MULLER and Maria KLEIBER; witnesses Gertraud and Georg Jojachim MULLER.

Both Walt and I have the surname KLINGEL and from census data know they came from Bavaria and from other sources know they were Catholic.
My ancestor is Theodore KLINGEL born abt 1854 in the US and as an adult he lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania. His parents were born in Bavaria. My father told me that Theodore came from a town near Scranton. That's all I have on my line.
Walt has KLINGELs that lived in Abington, a town near Scranton. He has a Jacob KLINGEL born abt 1856 and an unknown KLINGEL male born abt 1854. The Unknown isn't my Theodore as the census shows his widow. I don't know the source that Walt used but he has the parents of Jacob and Unknown male as John And Mary born abt 1815 in Bavaria.
I found a John KLINGEL arriving in Philadelphia in 1850. I didn't find records for any Mary KLINGEL. I did however find a Anna Maria KLINGEL who applied to leave Germany in 1854. This seems late as at least two KLINGELs were born abt 1854. However, she lists her birthplace as Wimsheim. I haven't had a chance to check if Wimsheim is in Bavaria but you likely know.
Any light you could shine on the Klingels would be most appreciated.
